What I would want, is that we assumne that next year is MW.
In the next 3 month we all go home and extensively test the limits of the MW lists and system..
IF at that point 4+ captains find it absolutely broken, then we put it to the vote.

At the same time, we dedicate a rulespack group to fix the things that we see as troublesome (List building, number of allowed formations, command cards and such).

Doing this we will be more ready for either EW (if that is what the captains vote) and MW since we would have a rulepack ready for MW, and the rulepack for EW could be reused 99%

Just a Thought

According to the usual rotation it should be MW in 2019.

If we go with MW we are going to have to sort out Rulespack before we have seen a significant set of Army Lists and cards, or at best/worst we may have these coming out quite late in spring or early summer. In 2020 it will be LW and we may have even bigger problems if 'new style' (100 point type) lists are starting to come out.

Would it be better to do EW, EW, MW. MW, LW, LW type rotation to give BF a chance to 'get in front' of ETC?

It would mean a second year of EW (we just had the first) which some people don't like so much but would make it much easier to sort out rulespacks etc and be more organised.

Personally I am happy to play MW but before we go to far do we all want to think about this?

I am happy with both EW and MW being played in 2019.
But we definitly need time to evaluate MW.

On the other hand, everybody remembering my LW lists, know what I will bring in MW 😉

There really is no issue.

We have 4 nations so far and also end of this month we get a second book for germans and the Russians.

Kursk is perfectly on track and will be early 2019 if not Xmas. Which is no different to ETCs of old when new books came out.

So we know we will have 7 books plus we will have the para lists as well. Anything else is a bonus.

A team only need to make 6 lists out of 9 books (2 x Brit, US, Italian, 3 x German and 2 x Soviet) and 9 card packs plus paras and thatís even before we discuss the BF web cards.

Kursk adds more stuff but wonít be as bigger addition as enemy at the Gates by Virtue that it isnít adding a nation. The fact that all core nations will be out this month is key.

Honestly I think we are seeing problems that donít really exist.

While EW largely worked this year it seems from the feedback by 2019 it will be 2 years since V4 and itís time to switch. Nothing has hanged since we voted last year. We said we would wait to ensure more books for 2019 and thatís where we are.

Letís make a great rule pack, and incorporate the lessons from this year and not go forward with a sword over our necks of suddenly changing direction 7 months out.

As we decided in 2017 to go with EW in 2018, cause we couldnt be sure that by that time enough books will be available, no one said lets evaluate if EW works with V4, we just prepared and any issues that had come up where dealt with in the rulespack as best as we could.

Why has it to be different with MW V4?

We have the books we were asking for and a ruleset that was designed for MW V4.

If something is unbalanced (I cant see atm what this is, please help me) we can deal with that. Its not easy to get a team together under V4 and I want to make sure asap that I can start planing properly. If I have to wait till end/beginning next year thats not what I am happy with.

This year several Players/Teams dropped ETC because of Early War, expecting that they can attend 2019 under MW.

Maybe, if some players are not happy with MW, its there turn to skip for a year and let the guys, who waited for 2019, have their comeback.

By the way, we have more books and lists in EW, thats true, but if we honestly have a look at the army choises this year, I cant see why someone is afraid of repeating lists in MW. We had that this year already.

Almost 75% of all list have been Russian Tanks, Russian Inf, German Inf, Japanese, French and Italians. And due to multiple formations most of the time it was no difference if you call them tank or infantry lists

I do agree, that there were a lot of (almost) copy-paste lists, and lots of repetition among the teams.

Now with even less base list to choose from it will be the same. Only the command cards could mitigate this risk. And a ruleset adressing the problem. But for that we don't have enough information. Yet.

I would never support EW in 2019. I care about the playerbase in Poland enough. I would rather pause for a year.

As for other stuff mentioned above:

1. Establishing a committee is a good idea (I also volunteer to help).
2. Playing 100 points until the committee is formed and begins its work makes most sense to me. No restrictions on list building nor command cards at this point in time. This will help to formulate potential ETC issues.

We have been playing lots of V4 Mid war in my part of Canada. I would be happy to be part of the planning group.

We have been playing V4 MW since it was released. There is very little the cards do to break the game. Formations might be an issue as there are some the must be used in a two formation list to be viable.

Points is the biggest factor, too small and the Tank lists are not usable.

While I enjoy EW, I'm in a minority of one in my country. If it's EW again next year we won't be able to form a team, but we've had 8 players express interest in going to ETC2019 if it's MW. For that reason alone I'd be against changing the rota that we've already voted in (twice).

To be honest, I think we are spoiled in 2019, as MW has quite a lot of v4 lists and a firm schedule for more. I am much more worried about LW in 2020, which I think BF will not be able to cover in time. For 2019, MW seems the reasonable way to go.

So we have the following situation:

Everybody wants MW for 2019
Everybody wants to be on the committee

Discussion points:
100 points might go ATM
Terrain examples TBD for the Orga
Rulespack now or after all EF books

Can we go back to my proposition to discuss rulespack after gaining experience with EF books?

Till then, we collect issues...
...and create the obligatory terrain reglement (with pictures and the whole shebang). Of which the terrain will take some time to formulate and agree on.

Terrain: immediately!
Rulespack: at least a rough draft of what is being tested (e.g. 100 pts with cards included);
2019: definitely MW since the rotation has been, as someone has noted already, voted on twice so far . . .

I agree with whomever stated that 2020 LW will be far more troublesome than 2019 MW.

OK, so let's set up the committee. We have the following volunteers: Helge, Nick Foxtrot, 96mgb, Lynx, wyrm, graham (me) and Reksio. If we want the committee to be effective, that is already as big as it can be. Any more and it becomes a talking shop with more noise than action.

I propose a vote to set up the committee on the following basis:
- committee is to produce a draft ETC FoW 2019 rulespack and post it on this forum by 10 December 2018;
- comment period on this forum until 24 December 2018;
- committee revises the rulespack on the basis of comments and delivers revised draft by 14 January 2019;
- vote on revised draft, closing on 28 January 2019.

The time schedule is set so that, before we vote on the rulespack, we have a more solid idea of whether the minor Axis book is likely to appear in time for ETC 2019.

If this post produces more volunteers, then I suggest that we aim for a six-strong committee and that the vote includes a vote on the membership, with each captain given six votes.

I propose adding one month to every date formulated in Grahams post.
Kursk books are barely out start of december
