WYSIWYG purpose

#1 by Lynx , Fri Jul 06, 2018 3:18 pm

So guys,

Regarding wysiwyg matter we all agree that it us compulsory for our event. But...
How do we proceed with the rare minis that can't be found any more?
The first example that comes in mind is the laffly 47sp at. There used to be minis but they can't be found anymore.

So I won't have any problem with any team that play those type of minis with at least some sort of conversion effort to get as close as possible to the original. So for the laffly, if you guys took a laffly transport and monted a 47at gun on the rear it will be totaly fine for me.

Any objection here or do we all agree on this?

Also, as seen in the list checking clearly marking elements of a same platoon should be a must too.
Cheers

Lynx,

If a miniature is unavailable, sure but the Laffly 47mm SP AT is available. I bought mine a month ago. I just looked on eBay and found six for sale at one UK trader. I'll email you the details and you could easily have them delivered by the end of next week - assuming the French postal service, like the football team, is almost as good as the Belgian one.

Thanks mate.

But we already did the conversion stuff so it looks like a Laffly 47mm so no issue here. I took that example because no other came to my minde.
Anyway fact was as long as it looks the way it should be played it will be ok right 😀?

The ETC proxy rule as written is pretty unforgiving but I don't remember it ever being used. If your Laffly looks like what it is supposed to be, then I don't see how you could have a problem.

Hi guys,
The topic raised by Lynx mainly concerns my own army (which basically a French based on captured material by the Germans, theme being « Raiders of the Lost Ark »).

Given the physical impossibility to find the appropriate vehicles on the market, 3 vehicles from my force are ad hoc solutions.
Lorraine transports are Lorraine Schlepper without the artillery gun.
Laffly are wheeled trucks with French 47mm backward firing.
Lorraine 25mm SP (a model never made by BF) are Beute StuG (from 21st Pz in Normandy) with French 25mm Hull mounted gun.
And it has cost me a fortune to be able to do so.

For the rest : Panhard are Panhard, Hotchkiss are Hotchkiss, Mortars are Mortars, and Infantry are Infantry.
I challenge anybody to check and see if there is whatsoever confusion on the models.
This is crystal clear.

Tell me if there is a need to send pictures (please give email adresses as we cant post pictures here).

Beside, being in the circuit for quite a couple of time now, I do support the WYSIWYG and its rules.

Fred,

If we play, I will not challenge any of your conversions.

Unfortunately, I can't give you much more reassurance than that. The Lorraine 38L and the Laffly 47mm SP AT are both available on eBay right now. If someone wanted to be difficult... well, I hope your conversions are good. If it helps, you'll be able to point to my models for comparison as we are running very similar lists. You are on firmer ground with the Lorraine 25mm SP, for which I have never seen a model. Congratulations on having the courage and skill to build one.

I like the theme of your army. Hope you have objectives in better taste than my cheese-eating surrender monkeys!

If there can be no doubt as to what the model is supposed to be then I have no issue. If someone has gone to the time and effort at converting or scratch built a piece of equipment then that should receive our laudits.

However proxy models for the sake of proxy models, imho is a no go, there has been plenty of time to get an army together.

However in past events, the proxy rule has never to my knowledge be executed. Seems little point in having a rule that isn't enforced?

@Tim : agreed.
This is why I state there is no confusion whatsoever on what my models are in the game.
Im confident there will be no issue, but as the topic was brought forward, for the sake of transparency, I announce what I have in my army.

I'll say they are base-painted (see pic), i've removed them from list before I've finished them.
But if they I fine for you I can bring them.
