I propose a vote on two changes to the rulespack. One is a correction, the other picks up a practice from previous years that was not in the rulespack itself.
You can find the description of the error in the rulespack at: Rulespack Error - Draw Method
There seem to be no objections to Helge’s proposed correction to the rulespack to address the error in the draw sequence.
On page 3 of the rulespack, delete "The battle plan for each list is revealed at step 3, 7 or 8 when its match-up is done."
Replace it with “The battleplans for all the lists are revealed before step 1”
In addition, Fred’s proposal about the Rearguard mission seems very reasonable. See Missions for ETC 2018
This is the same as we did at previous ETCs with Fighting Withdrawal.
Then the proposed change to the rulespack is to add a fifth bullet at the top of page 4,to read:
“The Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon games will be defensive battles. If Rearguard is played it must go the full nine turns (unless the attacker wins earlier) regardless of time taken.”
EDIT - 6 June
For Dust-Up, Encounter and Free-for-All, the Attacker is determined using the Battle Plans as set out at the foot of page 3 of the rulespack. To put it another way, the ETC rulespack overrides step 1 under "Setting Up" in More Missions for these three missions. This is because there would otherwise there is no point in going through the ETC Battle Plan allocation for these missions. It does not matter a great deal to most lists, except things like Japanese that can night attack in fair fights where they are the attacker. (Team England is not using a Japanese list.)
Then the proposed change to the rulespack is to add the following text to the end of the first bullet at the top of page 4:
“(for these three missions the attacker and defender for each pairing are determined as above, not as per step 1 of "Setting up" in More Missions);.”
END OF EDIT - 6 June
Please support me in calling for this vote.
